Thomas McCracken, President

As a content specialist, Tom coordinates multimedia, 3D, and book productions of Biographix, and he provides administrative direction for National Science Foundation and National Institutes of Health grants. Over the years, Mr. McCracken has won numerous awards of excellence from the Association of Medical Illustrators for his anatomic and surgical illustrations. In 1997, he was the recipient of the Frank Netter Award for special contributions to medical education from the Vesalius Trust.

Tom holds advanced degrees in medical illustration, anatomy, and physiology, and has authored or co-authored eight books on anatomy of human and veterinary subjects. He was a professor at Colorado State University in the Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology from 1977 to 1994. Mr. McCracken resigned from CSU in 1994 to enter private enterprise, eventually assuming the presidency of Biographix LLC.

Dave Carlson, Vice President

Co-founder of BioGraphix, Dave has variously held positions in the company as illustrator, designer, art director and project manager throughout its evolution from illustration studio to full service multimedia production house.

Dave holds a BS degree from Western Illinois University, and prior to BioGraphix, did stints as a newspaper photojournalist and editorial cartoonist, magazine art director, project manager for Elars Bioresearch, and biomedical illustrator in the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences at Colorado State University.

Dr. Stewart Crawford, Director of Technology

In improving the technology behind BioGraphix's user-driven animations, Stew lead the way over the past decade. Innovative development with Flash and Java allowed a new level of interactivity beyond the basic QuickTime models of the 90's, and created animations that work seamlessly on the widest variety of hardware platforms and software generations. In addition to advancing the state of interactive visualizations at BioGraphix, Stew teaches and consults across a variety of domains.

Stew holds an AB degree from Dartmouth, an MS from Stanford, and worked to improve biomedical image analysis during his doctoral studies at Colorado State University. He honed his R&D and project management skills in a decade at Bell Laboratories, once the premier R&D lab of our country.

Dennis Bogott, Director of Finance

Dennis has held management positions in accounting and budgeting at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, Colorado State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, and the Weld County Department of Human Services. His grant and contract accounting experience includes budgeting, indirect cost calculations and allocations, subcontract negotiation, general ledger maintenance and reporting, asset control, invoice payment, billing, monitoring, close-out, audit liaison and final reporting.

Dennis has experience interacting with many agencies including NIH, NCI, NSF, HHS and the DOT. He holds a BS degree in Finance and Accounting from the University of Colorado, and pursued further study in grant financial management and Federal Cost Accounting Standards.

Phil Guzy, Art Director

In working with Biographix for the past 14 years, Phil has been involved in all levels of production, as illustrator, print and multi-media designer, animator, and chief of 3d model production.

Phil is a formally trained medical artist, having attended the Master's Program in Biomedical Visualization at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where his studies included traditional media as well as new media. A formally trained fine artist, Phil received a BFA from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Painting.
